The Story of Højmølle Kro

Højmølle Kro on Falster has its roots in 18th-century inn traditions and originates from Galgekroen, established in 1776 with a royal license and located along the former main road.
When the road was rerouted in 1820, Galgekroen lost its location and importance, creating the need for a new inn along the new route.
In 1863, Højmølle Kro was founded by a local miller with a royal license and took over the role as the area’s central roadside inn. It became an important stop for travelers, offering food, lodging, and rest.
The original half-timbered building was replaced in 1903 by the red-brick structure that still stands today.
Throughout the 20th century, the inn evolved from a traditional roadside inn into a modern hotel and motel, including an expansion with 22 rooms in 1985.
Højmølle Kro has also served as a cultural hub for the local community, hosting celebrations, theatre, and social events. As the last remaining roadside inn on Falster, it holds significant cultural and historical value.
After a period of limited operations, the inn reopened in 2024 under new leaseholders who have brought new life to the place. Today, Højmølle Kro combines historic atmosphere with modern gastronomy and continues its more than 160-year-long history.

The Story of Jennifer, Kimmi & Viktor

Højmølle Kro is today run by Jennifer Hansen, Kimmi Bonné and Viktor Bonné, who have known each other for many years.
Viktor and Kimmi have known each other since 2008, while Jennifer became part of the collaboration in 2014. Kimmi and Jennifer trained as chefs together and have since worked as a duo in several kitchens, where they have built a shared approach to gastronomy, quality and operations.
In 2024, the three took over the lease of the inn’s restaurant and function rooms. This marked the beginning of their work to further develop the venue with a focus on dining experiences, hospitality and events.
During 2026, the three partners will be able to call themselves owners of the Højmølle Kro property, taking full responsibility for all operations – restaurant, functions and hotel. This creates the opportunity to develop the venue as a whole and deliver a complete experience for guests.
Common to all three owners is many years of experience in the restaurant and service industry, and a close collaboration built on trust, professionalism and a shared ambition to run a place where guests feel welcome.
